Welcome to EDTEC 650: Distance Education

EDTEC 650, Distance Education is designed for creative and forward looking students who are interested in gaining a broad background in theory and research within the context of the next generation distance education systems, such as dynamic learnware, and LMS of the future. The course is designed to allow students to create technology demonstrations that simulate these new developments using tools, such as STELLA, and XML. EDTEC 550 is a prerequisite, however, students who have not taken 550 can take 650 by participating in remedial learning activities. The first thing you need to do is to select a username and a password, and sign in to the course website. Please, make a note of the username and passowrd you choose. You will need this information to access the site, each time you log in. If you have any problems or questions please email Dr. Saba at fsaba@mail.sdsu.edu

If you have already signed in to course website, you can log in at any time. The log in windows are located at the upper left hand side of this screen.

Some students will take this course at a distance through the College of Extended Studies. You must have access to the following technologies for the successful completion of this course at a distance.

  • A personal computer with at least 800 MHz speed, 250 Mb RAM, 40 GB hard drive, and audio board and a 56 Kb modem.
  • A Microphone.
  • A video camera compatible to the computer used for the course.
  • Internet Explorer web browser (latest version).
  • Macromedia Flash Player.
  • Access to the Internet without the interference of an enterprise firewall.
